Pesticide Action Network has been instrumental in the formation of the Rotterdam Convention on Prior Informed Consent (PIC). The convention promotes shared responsibilities on the ... This coming March - April, the Conference of Parties of the Convention will vote on the inclusion of severely hazardous paraquat formulations.

Liquid paraquat formulations containing at least 276g/L of paraquat dichloride, or 200g/L paraquat ion, have been recommended for listing in the Rotterdam Convention. These formulations are mostly associated with the occupational poisonings among agricultural workers and women sprayers in the developing South. Once listed, these formulations will trigger the PIC process. Importing and exporting countries would knowingly engage in the trade of highly hazardous chemicals that harm people.

Join the efforts of countless others to stop paraquat and make the Convention meaningful to the fundamental rights of peoples everywhere!
